Inspiring Interiors - Touches of Grey

After stumbling across these interiors, it made me question why a grey color palette is not on my list of favorite things.  There is something incredibly soothing about a gray and white room with a few additions of color -  here, the array of plants provide bits of green to break up the muted color scheme.   Do you think that gray is blah, or that grey is the new neutral?

Design element: Spheres in interior design

When I was in Southern California this summer, I stumbled upon a wonderful interior design studio with a store attached, and this store had the most amazing selection of rocks and minerals for sale (for use as accessories).   The stone spheres in particular caught my eye – I love the shape, and they had a huge array of colors and sizes.

Since that visit, I have been collecting pictures of spheres that I noticed on Pinterest or in my old interior design image files. I was surprised to note that some of my favorite room images from the past have spheres used as accessories – I had not even noticed!

Here is a good example. This picture has been on my blog countless times. Something about this room has always had great appeal to me – the combination of the sand color of the sisal, the grays of the wall and upholstery, the contemporary art, and the white tulips (my favorite) – it all comes together beautifully. When I looked at this picture with fresh eyes, I spotted the spheres on the side table – one large, and three small. The small ones could be mounted finials. Interior design by Gerrie Bremermann.

DIY yarn wreath with attachments
This DIY neutral yarn wreath is the perfect base for any season, allowing you the opportunity to get creative with your attachments. We're showing you two ways to update this yarn wreath for spring or summer, with some inexpensive and cute materials!

Supplies

For the wreath:

  • 1 Styrofoam or straw wreath form (we used a 14-inch one)
  • Neutral colored yarn (about one spool)
  • Scissors
Spring wreath

For the April add-on:

  • Fake flowers
  • Wire scissors
  • Felt flowers
Beach wreath

For the May add-on:

  • Large potpourri nuts (like these)
  • White paint
  • Blue spray paint
  • White felt flowers

To make the wreath

1

Wrap the wreath in yarn

To make the wreath, untangle all of the yarn and tie a little knot around the wreath form (so you have a place to start).

Modern Interior Design with Stripes Creating Energetic Mood

We love stripes. Even a small kid knows how stripes look and feel. Toys, clothes and furniture with stripes appear more interesting and exciting. Room decor accessories with stripes make home interiors feel more energetic and stylish. In the world of prints and graphics, stripes are one of the most popular choices for modern interior decorating.

Choosing the best stripes width, direction and colors for your interior design is not easy. Dynamic stripes change the living space perception, interior design style and mood. The look and the feel, that modern interior design with stripes creates, depend on the stripes width, direction, size, color combination and striped pattern sequence.
Painting stripes is a modern trend in decorating, creating interesting and very personal interior design. Modern wallpaper that allows to paint stripes on it, is great for experimenting with energizing striped patterns and colorful modern interior decorating ideas. New wallpapers make it easier to create and change modern wall decor with stripes, and it is very convenient for a quick interior redesign, home staging and room makeover projects.
