There is one thing I always preach when it comes to interior styling: let your personality guide you when styling your home. Make it as personal as possible and let your visitors discover your character by walking through your interiors. When I visited the studio of Valencia based design label LZF Lamps – which happens to be their home too – I felt like this is exactly what the owners Marivi and Sandro. She is a Valenciana and artist, he is an Australian expat and artist too. Both met, married, created and founded what is today a leading lighting design brand from Spain with worldwide acclaim.
We were guided through their studio, production halls and offices during our visit and got a great overview of their amazing products and inspiring premises of LZF Lamps. As someone who really loves organic shapes, natural materials and the combination of natural materials and more geometric forms, I was constantly in awe while spotting table lamps and pendants in all shapes, sizes and colours. I love their fantastic Minimikado suspension that seems to incorporate an Asian sophistication and wild African beauty in itself – at least that’s the feeling I get from it. I also love the simple but cheerful Escape lamp, the voluptuous Agatha suspension as well as the cute Chou table lamps (not to mention that I love the French name of those).
LZF Lamps is predominately known for their lighting solutions designed by various in-house and external designers. Their lightings are not only adorning private homes but many public spaces as well such as hotel lobbies, offices, shops, restaurants and more. In fact after seeing the LZF Lamps products in Valencia I felt quite often as it was a déjà-vu – I must have spotted some of their iconic pieces in various hotels and restaurants already without knowing it’s LZF Lamps!
Recently the LZF Lamps teams has embarked on a little fun project that digressed from the light business – with the designer Isidro Ferrer they have launched a series of quirky wooden figurines named ‘Funny Farm’ – and those funny little fellows were scattered around the entire studio like little mementos of the fun and convivial working atmosphere at LZF Lamps. I also loved the abundance of plants, vintage ceramics, books and other memorabilia displayed in the offices. I felt like after just wandering through the LZF Lamps offices I knew Marivi and Sandro a bit better – without having met them ever before! And that’s exactly what interiors should tell us! Right?
After our studio tour we were invited to join an unforgettable and magic garden party with LZF Lamps – illuminated by their beautiful lamps. But I will show you the magic garden party this Friday. Stay tuned!
