"We want to shape culture"

Anita and Simran Lal

Anita and Simran Lal of Good Earth.
The toilet seat is often a place to ponder over life's big and small dilemmas, but you know that you are sitting on one at a special place when you inadvertently look up and find a slab of glass that's open to sky, allowing the thick foliage and shimmery sun to peek into this private space. We are at a farm in Delhi's Chattarpur area that luxury retail brand Good Earth calls its office space and glass silos let in ample light as young, energetic teams work hard on creating the next successful collection under the watchful eye of founder Anita Lal,, 70, Creative Director, and her daughter Simran Lal,47, who has been the brand's CEO since 2012.

Inside the 2018 Kips Bay Decorator Show House

“The Moonlight Room” by Juan Montoya Design. Photography by Nickolas Sargent.
Each year, celebrated designers transform a luxury Manhattan residence into the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, an elaborate exhibition of fine furnishings, art, and technology. This year’s iteration, open May 1-31, is no different. Designers went all out: Juan Montoya Design evokes the cosmos via abstract silhouettes of the moon in both carpeting and wall covering, while Barbara Ostrom Associates transports guests to an avid art collector’s library, crowned by a ceiling inspired by Frank Stella paintings. This year’s pièce de résistance, however, is the grand staircase, Sasha Bikoff’s technicolor ode to past, present, and future. Memphis Milano designers Ettore Sottsass and Alessandro Mendini influenced Bikoff, who included colorful pieces by Chris Schanck and Misha Kahn. It’s a feast for the eyes—and Instagram. Remodel Your Small Bathroom On A Budget!

DIY small bathroom remodel: budget bathroom ideas
You’ll get lots of small bathroom decorating ideas in this video where I share how I helped a friend give his small half-bath a makeover with a budget of only $200. You’ll see how easy it is to install a Smart Tiles peel and stick backsplash, and how I managed to camouflage a very dated lighting fixture with a simple DIY cover. I also made a DIY over the toilet storage cabinet and finished off the makeover with a new vanity mirror and art. The whole thing cost $189, $11 under budget, and that includes the new mirror and wall art!  (source https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72pr_g9TRXQ)
